Our "gifts" just keep giving...

I was delighted to read on FB that Mary B had found the Morrocan sardines in her knitting bag TWO years after they were so delicately placed there.  It warms my heart to know that one can hide something so well and can take someone by such surprise long after the 'act'....Hey, Deb, need a kleenix...?  Have we invited Maplelag Klackers like Alison, Sue, etc or are we just keeping it to the main liners....Just got a package from CZ with a store made scarf thingy that my friend Olina didn't like.  It was a large scarf sewed together to make a neck type scarf and so now I've unraveled it and will begin a new scarf project for her...more on this later...

Book Suggestions

Ok, the challenge has been thrown down by Sarah! My latest "hit" was _Sisters_. It is...odd. About conjoined twins--written from both of their perspectives. They are very different and it is interesting to compare how they represent events that they, obviously, were both present for. Anyway, I wasn't sure about it at first--sort of quesy-making. But I HAD to read to the end. It's not "nonwestern" but it is really interesting--marjorie

Wooden Skis

As you may know, some of us are very fond of our wood skis.  They really are more forgiving of temperature fluctuations and look very cool.  Here's a link to a site that sells used wood skis.  They come with 75mm bindings, but I've had great results with newer bindings that fit the better insulated modern ski boots.  http://www.woodenskis.com/inventory.htm

My favorite spy series

Here is the tv show about the English spy agency I mentioned at Maplelag:

MI -5. A Kudos production for the BBC.

It's still ongoing on BBC, and the SPPL has the series.

Link to Ravelry

https://www.ravelry.com/account/login

This is a fun site - you can get lost for hours looking at knitting projects - LOTS of free patterns.

Tags

This useful tip from Laura Dale:  In my experience with blogs, their effectiveness as archives increases with the consistent use of tags applied to each entry.

So, if we see there are already tags for "mysteries," don't create a new tag called "mystery novels". . . or if there is a tag for "sock," don't create a new tag called "knitted stockings." In the info world, this is called a "controlled vocabulary."

The Begining

The purpose of this blog is to provide a place for our knitting group to share knitting projects, patterns, book lists, recipes, travel tips, general advice, and to, on occasion,  rant.

First order of business, we need to agree on a font - is  Helvectica okay?
